The Grand Master of the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star is the Superior General of the Order and, in terms of secular law, its statutory representative. Since the Order’s foundation, 48 Prague Masters and Grand Masters have stood at its head. The six-pointed star, granted to the Order’s coat of arms by its first Master – Albert of Sternberg – can also be found in the coat of arms of the current Grand Master – PharmDr. Mgr. Josef Šedivý O.Cr.

The mitre and crosier symbolize that the General of the Order is also a benedicted abbot, while the Renaissance galero and the sword refer to the chivalric origins of the Order.
